Reggie Barlow- Head Coach Alabama State University
Reggie Barlow was named ASU's head football coach on May 4, 2007. For the past two seasons, Barlow worked as quarterbacks coach, serving as mentor and tutor to former ASU star and current NFL starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. After wrapping up an eight-year career that ended with a Super Bowl ring, the former ASU star wide receiver returned to his alma mater in 2005. Barlow holds the school's all-time records with 133 receptions for 2,596 yards, which is 10th in Southwestern Athletic Conference history. He also holds the schools single-season record for receiving yards and has the SWAC's best single-season average in punt returns. He scored 17 career touchdowns and caught at least one pass in 36 of 41 games played, including the last 24. After his senior season, Barlow played in the Senior Bowl and Blue-Gray All-Star game. In a professional career that started with his selection in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by Jacksonville, Barlow established himself as one of the best punt returners in NFL history, finishing in the top-10 in return average. He was selected as the first alternate kick returner for the Pro Bowl following the 1998 season, when he led the AFC in punt returns and finished seventh in kickoff returns. He owns the Jaguars career records for most punt returns (79), most punt return yards (967) and average per return (12.2), as well as single-season records for most punt returns (55 in 1998), most punt return yards (555 in 1998) and average per return (12.9 in 1998).Barlow played five seasons with Jacksonville, one with the Oakland Raiders, and two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was a member of a Super Bowl championship team in 2001. He is married to the former Tracy Kidd and they have two children, Reggie Jr. and Simone.
