Kyle Montgomery-Sports Anchor WSFA 12
Mr. Montgomery made history as the first African-American male sports anchor in the history of WSFA Montgomery's NBC News affiliate. Kyle officially joined the WSFA 12 Sports team in August of 2007, but he is no stranger to WSFA or the sports team. Kyle interned with WSFA 12 in 2005 where he caught the fever immediately tagging along with John, Derek, and Jeff during football season. It wasn't long after that when Kyle landed his first on air job as the weekend sports anchor at WSFA's sister station WDAM TV in Hattiesburg, Ms. He served as the weekend sports anchor for 8 months, then was promoted to the weeknight sports anchor. He held that position for 3 months before WSFA gave him a ring. From there it was history. Kyle says that the decision was an easy one seeing as though he is an Alabama State Graduate (class of "06"), his last name is Montgomery, and he considers Montgomery his second home. Kyle is originally from Kansas City, KS (Huge Chiefs Fan!!!) and says that his love for sports began at age 5 playing T-ball for his dad. He went on to play football, baseball, and basketball all the way through high school and still claims that he should be in the NBA right now. Kyle and his wife Cambreisha are expecting a baby boy named Makhi Jay due on October 23rd. The Montgomery's are happy to rejoin the Montgomery community with their new addition.
